I started to play for Chennai Boys (CB)
Team in 2016. I got an opportunity to prove my batting skills in the same year in a match which I missed out completely. From then, I hardly remember that I was batting for CB unless 9 wickets were down for the team. Occasionally, I get chances to bowl and assume I performed well. But it took me around 2 years to prove that I could bat…..
Yes…this moment is not so easy for me to forget!!!. The opponents gave us a target of 146 to score in 30 overs. CB Team started well, but as usual the batting order collapsed. At one stage, it was 94 for 6 and almost all the top scoring players are out. CB required another 52 runs to win with around 60 balls left. The stage was well set for me to showcase my ability. Left with one senior player in the crease, I started to play as per his game plan and after scoring another 4 runs he was out!. I am now left alone with 2 under 19 players to bat with me. I set my mind to play responsibly. Started playing with sense and guided the Under 19 batsmen to stay with me in the crease. He did his job exceedingly well and as a result I was hitting the winning boundary with almost 16 balls left….I scored 23 runs in 32 balls with 2 boundaries.
I have to mention about the encouragement and appreciation from my team mates…. especially, Sumit Bhai, Remesh Bhai and Dhinesh Bhai….. I even remember them talking about my batting in this match during our next match after a week. Thank you Guys!!!
